Taming Your Tongue

"But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison."

That scripture explains that the tongue is so powerful that no man can tame it.  Another scripture says:  "The tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully." (Psalms 52:2)  Here is another: "Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue." (Psalms 52:4).  You know how people swear and all that bad stuff?  That scripture explains why. People are so perverse that they love that sort of stuff.  In a book I once read it said that the reason they liked somebody was because he could swear wonderfully.  Now that's pretty bad.  In the verse at the top it says that no man can tame his tongue.  Even though it says that I would like to encourage you to try to tame your tongue.  You never can set the bar to high, because the higher you set it, the harder you'll have to try to reach it.

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."(Proverbs 18:21)  The word life means: salvation.  The word death means:  not excepting Christ.

"And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that [were] on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." ( Joshua 24:15).

Amen Grant! Getting control of our "tung" is often impossible and the single biggest problem we face through out life. But all things are possible with God, even tongue control :-)

God bless and have a great Easter
